Park Ji-sung transfers to Queen Park Rangers

July 10, 2012 - 09:15 By KH디지털뉴스부공용

South Korean midfielder Park Ji-sung has joined the Queens Park Rangers (QPR) from Manchester United, sources said Monday.

QPR officially announced at a press conference in London that Park has signed with the British Premier League team.

The 31-year-old Korean player attended the press meeting wearing his new uniform, with QPR owner Tony Fernandes and manager Mark Hughes, according to the sources.

QPR has not disclosed the agreement yet, but local media reported it could be worth 5.0 million pounds ($7.8 million), with an initial transfer fee of 2.0 million pounds.

Park, who came to Seoul last week for the special K-League All-Star game, refused to comment when asked about his transfer, amid widespread media speculation about where he would be moving next.

However, it was widely expected that his joining the QPR was a fait accompli.

Park joined Manchester United in 2005, becoming the first South Korean to play in the Premier League. He has made 133 Premier League appearances and netted 19 goals. (Yonhap News)
