A man who had broken into the room of a 26-year-old woman was arrested after he was fought off and tied up by her family members, police in Changwonseobu, South Gyeongsang Province, said on Thursday.

The man, surnamed Choi, allegedly tried to sexually assault the victim when he broke into her room on the second floor of her family’s house at 1 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Hearing her screams for help, the victim’s sister entered the room and engaged in a scuffle to keep him from escaping out the door.

The parents, who had been asleep downstairs, soon joined in the struggle before calling the police.

“They were too surprised to call the police at first,” said an official. “Worse could have happened or the culprit could have gotten away, but they were very, very brave.”

The police found Choi tied up with hair dryer cords and shoelaces when they arrived at the scene.

집에 침입한 성폭행범 신발끈으로 꽁꽁

‘용감한 가족’이 집에 침입한 괴한을 붙잡아 경찰에 넘겼다.

경남 창원서부경찰서는 새벽 시간 주택에 침입해 20대 여성을 성폭행하려 한 혐의로 최모(32)씨에 대해 구속영장을 신청했다고 28일 밝혔다.

최씨는 지난 26일 새벽 1시께 경남 창원시 의창구의 한 주택 2층 김모(26ㆍ여)씨의 방에 침입, 김씨를 성폭행하려 한 혐의를 받고 있다.

김씨의 비명소리를 들은 여동생이 방으로 들이닥치자 최씨는 출입문을 통해 달아나려 했으나 김씨 자매가 몸싸움을 하며 저지했다.

그 사이에 1층에서 잠을 자던 부모가 합세, 최씨를 붙잡은 뒤 경찰에 신고했다.

경찰이 현장에 도착했을 당시 최씨는 손목과 다리가 운동화 끈, 헤어 드라이기 줄 등으로 꽁꽁 묶인 상태였다.

김씨는 최씨와 밀고 당기는 등 몸싸움을 하면서 가벼운 상처를 입었다.

경찰의 한 관계자는 “가족들이 너무 놀라서 112신고를 빨리 하지 못한 것 같다”며 “범인이 달아나거나 자칫 피해가 클 수도 있는 상황이었는데 가족이 용감하게 범인을 붙잡았다”고 전했다. (연합뉴스)
