A Dallas woman was arrested Friday after she tried to sell her baby to another woman in Florida for $4,000, according to local news reports.

The suspect, whose identity was withheld, allegedly tricked Megan Heichelbech into believing that it was a formal procedure to adopt 4-month-old Eden.

However, Heichelbech got suspicious when she did not receive the names of the birth mother’s adoption facilitators and attorney, and she alerted the police.

Authorities found Eden alone in an apartment and the mother was charged with child abandonment with intent to return.
