A British woman who stole from her boss to pay for her expensive wedding has been sentenced to 20 months in prison, according to news reports.

Kirsty Lane, a 30-year-old newly-wed, swindled over 200,000 pounds (360 million won) from her company which she used on her wedding last year. The wedding spared absolutely no expense, providing matching designer boots for the bridal party and a harpist at the reception, and finishing with a fireworks display.

“It was an amazing event, face painting, fireworks…I dread to think how much it cost, but it certainly looked as though they were having a great time that day,” said Peter Sutton, one of the executives at Lane’s company who enjoyed the party without noticing that they paid every penny for it.

Her newlywed husband, who claimed to have known nothing about Lane’s crime, was cleared from any accusation.

“페이스 페인팅, 불꽃놀이 등 정말 놀라웠습니다. 얼마나 돈이 들었을지 상상조차 하기 두렵지만 다들 매우 즐거워 보이더군요,” 라고 레인이 일하던 회사의 간부 중 한 명이 피터 서튼은 말했다.

대담하게도 레인은 자신이 피해를 입힌 회사의 간부들을 전부 초대했고, 그들은 파티비용을 자신들이 냈다는 사실도 모른 채 즐거운 시간을 보냈다고 한다.

한편 레인의 남편은 횡령사실에 대해 전혀 모르고 있었던 것으로 알려졌다. 그는 신부가 그간 저축해놓은 돈과 보너스 등으로 비용을 마련한 줄 알고 있었다고 한다.
