Kim Yu-na to decide on future before summer

June 17, 2012 - 19:18 By Korea Herald
SHANGHAI (Yonhap News) ― Olympic figure skating champion Kim Yu-na said Saturday she will decide on her future plans “before the summer.”

In a news conference held on the sidelines of the Artistry on Ice 2012 event in Shanghai, the 2010 Vancouver gold medalist said she has been having in-depth talks with people she trusts over what she should do after graduating from her university. The 22-year-old is currently a senior at Seoul’s Korea University.

“The general direction on what I should do has been reached, but nothing is concrete until the formal announcement is made,” she said.

Kim did not announce plans to retire from figure skating last year, although she has not rejoined international figure skating competitions.

On whether she will compete in the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, she declined to make any commitments at present.

“Since nothing has been decided, it will not be appropriate for me to comment on the matter,” she said.

Kim, however, said if she decided to go to Sochi, there is still plenty of time to prepare.
