A teacher in northern India who would not allow a student to cheat in an examination was crushed under a car, allegedly for his refusal, media reports said Monday.

Rakesh Kumar, a Hindi teacher at a private school in Haryanastate’s Sonepat city, was walking home Friday when two men reportedly asked him to allow a student to cheat.

When Kumar refused, the men ran their car over him twice, broadcaster NDTV reported.

The teacher succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in New Delhi, 45 kilometers south of Sonepat, on Sunday and one of the accused was arrested on Monday, the CNN-IBN network reported.

Kumar’s family identified the suspects as a friend and relative ofthe student who wanted to cheat.

“They clearly had an intention to kill my brother. After running over him once, they reversed the car and ran him over him a second time,” Kumar’s brother Mukesh told NDTV. (DPA)

부정행위 불허한 선생님 살해

9일(현지시간) 현지 NDTV방송에 따르면 인도 북부 하리아나주(州)의 소네파트시(市)에 있는 한 사립학교에서 교사로 근무하던 라케쉬 쿠마르는 지난 6일 일과를 마치고 집으로 돌아가던 중 이 같은 변을 당했다.

길을 가던 쿠마르에게 두명의 남성이 다가와 한 학생이 시험에서 부정행위를 할 수 있도록 허락해 달라고 요구했다.

쿠마르가 이를 거절하자 이들은 타고 있던 차로 쿠마르를 두번 들이받았다고 이 방송은 전했다.

경찰은 8일 용의자 가운데 한명을 체포했다고 CNN-IBN 방송이 보도했다.

쿠마르의 가족은 용의자들이 각각 부정행위를 원했던 학생의 친구와 친척이라고 주장했다. (연합뉴스)
