Millions of loonies and toonies spilled onto a roadway in Canada Wednesday when a Brinks tractor-trailer rig hit a rock face, police said.
Workers used shovels to scoop up the $1 and $2 coins while police kept watch, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported. A crane with a large magnet was being used to collect the coins and provincial police Officer Mark Andrews said it was possible a front-end loader would be brought in to scoop them up.
Police said more than $5 million in coins spilled, QMI Agency reported.
The 4 a.m. collision, which occurred on Highway 11 south of Ramore in Ontario, left two men on the truck with life-threatening injuries and led to chain-reaction collisions that involved a minivan and two other tractor-trailer units.(UPI)
