Trip back to Busan Boys Town

March 14, 2012 - 19:28 By Korea Herald
Busan Volunteers are set to make their next trip to a local orphanage on March 17.

The group will visit the 500 children at the Boys Town Orphanage to play games such as soccer and basketball with the kids there. Some volunteers will also take part in crafts and other activities for young children.

Participants are encouraged to bring family packs of sweets and snacks to share with school-aged children, who rarely get treats.

The group of international volunteers will gather at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at the meeting point inside Busan’s Jagalchi Station before getting taxis together to go to the orphanage

The group is especially keen to recruit new volunteer English teachers as some of the regular helpers left Korea last month. People who are able to commit to helping by leading classes at least once a week are sought to teach the kids who also come voluntarily to the tutoring sessions.

Anyone interested in taking part in the regular volunteer activities should check the “Busan Volunteer” Facebook page for more information.

Those wishing to attend the Boys Town trip should register with the group and RSVP ahead of the event.
