Applications are now open for a peace-promoting summer school in Hiroshima.
The intensive summer courses at graduate and undergraduate level will run from July 31 until Aug. 9 at Hiroshima City University.
The courses aim to help students understand the nature of war and peace by teaching about wartime experiences, including the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. They will also explore world peace issues in the era of globalization.
All lectures will be given in English, with free homestay accommodation available for non-Japanese participants.
Second year or higher undergraduate students or people who have already graduated are permitted to join the undergraduate level course, which costs 20,000 yen ($257).
Graduate students and higher are eligible for the higher level course, which costs 21,000 yen. All applications should be received by May 1.
