Roma suffers loss to Siena

MILAN (AP) ― Siena moved away from the relegation zone after Emanuele Calaio’s converted a 51st-minute penalty kick, giving relegation-threatened Siena a 1-0 victory over visiting Roma on Monday night in the Serie A.

Siena (5-9-8) is 16th with 23 points, five points above 18th-place Lecce (4-13-6).

Napoli won 2-0 at home against Chievo Verona. Miguel Britos headed Napoli in front in the 15th minute and Edinson Cavani converted a penalty kick in the 37th minute for his 13th league goal.

Napoli (8-5-10), which had won once in its previous seven matches, is seventh with 34 points, while Chievo (7-10-6) is 14th with 27.


Real Sociedad defeated Sevilla with a pair of second-half goals in the debut of coach Jose Miguel “Michel” Gonzalez for the Andalucian club.

Carlos Vela was set up by Imanol Agirretxe to score in the 64th minute, and Vela fed Ruben Pardo four minutes later for the second goal.

Real Sociedad (7-9-6) moved into 11th place with 27 points, two places and one point above Sevilla (6-8-8), which is winless in eight games.
