MANCHESTER, New Hampshire, Jan 10, 2012 (AFP) - White House hopeful Mitt Romney has won the state of New Hampshire in the second Republican presidential voting contest, US media projections showed Tuesday.

US networks CNN, Fox News and MSNBC all called the result early in Romney's favor, prompting cheers to erupt at his state campaign headquarters in Manchester. Romney won last week in Iowa and is now the clear favorite to take on President Barack Obama in November.
With 16 percent of polling stations reporting, the former Massachusetts governor held 36 percent of the vote, well ahead of Texas congressman Ron Paul on 25 percent, with former US envoy to China Jon Huntsman trailing in third on 18 percent.
Former House speaker Newt Gingrich and Christian conservative former US senator Rick Santorum were duelling it out for fourth place with 10 percent and 10 percent of the early vote respectively.

미국 공화당 대통 령 후보 경선에서 밋 롬니 전 매사추세츠 주지사가 아이오와 코커스(당원대회)에 이 어 뉴햄프셔주 프라이머리(예비선거)에서도 1위가 확실시되고 있다.
뉴햄프셔 프라이머리의 개표가 진행되고 있는 10일(현지시간) 오후 8시 현재 11 % 개표 상황에서 롬니 전 주지사는 36% 득표율로 압도적 표차이로 다른 후보를 따돌 리고 1위를 질주하고 있다.
2위는 25%를 획득하고 있는 론 폴 하원의원이 달리고 있고, 17%를 얻은 존 헌츠 먼 전 유타 주지사, 11%를 얻은 뉴트 깅리치 전 하원의장이 3, 4위로 추격하고 있다 .
아이오와 코커스에서 롬니 전 주지사와 접전을 펼치는 돌풍을 일으키며 2위를 차지했던 릭 샌토럼(펜실베이니아) 전 상원의원은 10% 득표율로 5위이며, 1%를 득표 하고 있는 릭 페리 텍사스 주지사가 6위로 처졌다.
CNN은 뉴햄프셔 전체 투표가 마무리된 이날 오후 8시 예측조사를 통해 롬니 전 주지사의 1위를 예상했다.
CNN 출구조사 결과에서는 롬니 전 주지사가 36%로 1위, 론 폴 의원이 23%로 2위 , 헌츠먼 전 주지사가 18%로 3위를 차지하는 것으로 발표됐다.
