LG Electronics on Wednesday unveiled its new lineup of air conditioners, targeting an increase in sales of more than 10 percent this year.
The company introduce about 40 models that feature a technology called the “Real 4-D” cooling system that sends cool air out in four different directions, according to LG officials.
The air conditioners have also increased the number of turbo fans located within the air conditioner for improved performance and slimmed the width of the product down by up to 30 percent, company officials said.

The installation of a power-saving super inverter reduces electricity fees by up to one-third of what was paid with other models and the air conditioner can also be controlled by smart devices through a mobile application named Whisen app 2.0.
“We’ve grown more than 10 percent in global terms and we tend to reach a growth rate of over 10 percent in total sales in 2012 even though we know some advanced nations are expected to see a sluggish economy this year,” said Nho Hwan-yong, president of the air conditioning and energy solution unit at LG Electronics.
The air conditioners, which are modeled by well-known TV star Zo In-sung and rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae, also put an emphasis on design, presenting a liquid-crystal display screen that shows management features as well as user-selected photos, said LG officials.
It is also equipped with the magic lighting function that could upgrade the home interiors of the customers, officials added. The prices of the air conditioners range from 2.3 million won to 3.5 million won.
“We plan to continue increasing our market share (in global markets) by developing models that are a match to that particular market,” said Nho. “I can’t talk about the specific differences compared to our rival’s models but we expect to grow together by continuously competing with each other.”
