A couple in the U.S. has been arrested for killing the husband’s son by refusing him water for five days, Daily Mail reported.

Jonathan James was being punished for wetting his bed and taking guitar strings from his twin brother.

Jonathan’s father and his stepmother, have been arrested and charged for causing injuries that led to the child’s death.

Paramedics found Jonathan dead in the bathtub.

At first, the parents said that their child was sick for a while and had been trying to cool himself off by bathing.

But later, a medical examiner found that he hade died from dehydration, Daily Mail reported.

The parents could receive up to 99 years in prison if convicted, it added.

The boy’s grandmother expressed concern for Jonathan’s twin brother Joseph because he saw his brother collapse and die.

Joseph has been having constant nightmares ever since. She also said that Joseph wanted to help his brother but he was afraid that he would be punished by his parents for doing so.

The brothers were living with their father and stepmother temporarily because of a custody arrangement.
