Cooking up a better future in Seoul

Aug. 3, 2011 - 19:16 By
Four women with mental disabilities have been hired into the baking industry after being trained at Seoul City’s Misericord’s House of Annunciation’s Convent.

The women in their 20s could not write their names when they started programs there 10 year ago, but have now learned pastry-making skills and are set to start jobs on Aug. 9. They have been hired at pastry-making businesses including the Pukone Bakery in Seoul.

Tutors hope the women will provide inspiration for the 499 other women currently training to improve their social and work skills at the convent.
