Soccer star’s foundation donates 200m won

HMB Foundation, established by former national soccer player Hong Myung-bo, will donate 200 million won ($183,600) in proceeds from a recent benefit soccer match to three charity organizations.

The three are Community Chest of Korea (140 million won), Seoul Welfare Foundation (30 million won) and ChildFund Korea (30 million won).

They will use the money for child cancer patients and other underprivileged children.

The annual soccer match held at Seoul World Cup Stadium on Dec. 25 is one of Korea’s most high-profile charity sporting events. The game, in its eighth year, drew 15,111 spectators.

The foundation charity matches have raised 1.52 billion won so far.
