Another S. Korean confirmed dead in Japanese quake

March 26, 2011 - 16:22 By 김지현

Another South Korean national has been confirmed dead from the massive Japanese earthquake and tsunami, the South Korean foreign ministry said on Saturday.
The recent finding brought to four the number of South Korean citizens killed in the disaster.
"Police headquarters of Japan's Miyagi Prefecture notified the South Korean Consulate General in Sendai that an 86-year-old South Korean woman identified only as Baek was dead," the ministry said.
"Baek's body was already handed over to her family in Japan."
The woman was living in the city of Iwanuma, Miyagi, when the magnitude-9.0 earthquake hit, the ministry said.
The quake struck Japan's northeastern coastal region on March 11, unleashing a gigantic tsunami that swept ships, cars and homes away in the worst natural disaster to hit the country in its recorded history. At least 20,000 people have been reported as dead or missing, but media reports say the number could be much higher.
