An international school here is attracting growing attention thanks to its high record of acceptance to universities and colleges abroad.

The Korea Christian International School in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, announced that for the fifth consecutive year all its seniors had been accepted to foreign colleges and universities.

This year, the KCIS produced 17 graduates with all being accepted to colleges and universities around the world, mostly in the U.S., including Cornell University and the University of California at Davis, the school said.

The KCIS was founded in 2003 with the aim of nurturing global leaders in the spirit of Christianity, its principal Rev. Joshua Lee said.

“We are a school that tries to reach out to all peoples and nations through a biblical perspective and Christian education to show that we can have true freedom through Christ,” he said.

The school provides unique Bible-based education that has long been a respected curriculum for Christian international schools in the U.S., according to the principal.

The school is not only specialized in Bible teaching, but a wide range of subjects from math to music and arts. It also provides preparation classes for the U.S. Scholastic Aptitude Test and IBT TOEFL test for students who want to apply to U.S. colleges.

Native English teachers provide all classes in English at KCIS, and provide individualized instruction beyond the classroom through after-school tutoring and extracurricular activities.

The principal pointed out that the school also placed emphasis on character education. All students are required to attend the chapel service every day and Bible reading. They also regularly participate in spiritual training that is designed for character development.

The principal reiterated that his goal was to nurture global leaders by deepening students’ “spiritual, intellectual and social abilities.”

“We’re working hard to produce future leaders who can contribute to the world,” he added.
