A Swedish woman says she had to fly overnight from Europe to Tanzania next to a man who died after the plane had departed.

Lena Pettersson, a reporter for Sveriges Radio, said the man was having convulsions before the Kenya Airways flight departed from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The plane took off anyway, The Local.se reported Sunday.

He died several hours later while the plane was in the air.

Pettersson said she then had to sit across from the dead man for the rest of the flight. "Of course it was unpleasant, but I am not a person who makes a fuss," Pettersson told the Expressen newspaper.

She later decided, however, to seek compensation. It took a couple of months of e-mails but she was finally refunded $713 -- about half of the cost of her ticket, Sveriges Radio said.  (UPI)

비행 중 사망한 남자, 시신은 그대로 방치

비행기 이륙 후에 사망한 남자 승객의 시신이 아무런 조치 없이 비행 내내 일반 승객들 옆에 방치 돼 논란이 되고 있다.

암스테르담에서 탄자니아로 향하는 케냐 항공에 탑승하고 있었던 스웨덴 공영 라디오 기자인 레나 페터슨에 따르면, 사망한 남자 승객은 비행기 이륙 전부터 경기를 일으키고 있었고 비행기가 이륙한 지 몇 시간 후 이 남자승객은 사망했다.

페터슨은 이 승객의 맞은편에 앉아 있었고 기분이 좋지는 않았지만 소란을 일으키거나 할 생각은 없었다고 한다.

하지만 그녀는 후에 보상을 요구했고 수개월 후 비행기 값의 절반인 713달러(약 80만원)을 환불 받았다고 한다.
