A four-year-old boy in New Zealand purchased an old commuter train from an online auction.

According to news reports, the public transport arm of Greater Wellington Regional Council received a bid of $29,990 for the train. However, it got an email from a woman asking to cancel the bid because she said that the bid was made by her 4-year-old son.

“My 4-year-old was playing and placed a bid. I don’t actually want to buy the train. Can my bid please be removed?” the email said.

The bid was canceled, but the public transport arm was doubtful about the woman’s claim because when people want to bid something, they have to click two or three times for confirming.

“The child has to be exceptionally bright if they can read all that,” the organization said.

The train on sale operated in 1940s and was out of service this week. There have been a lot of comments on the bid, but no one has placed one yet.

네 살짜리가 인터넷 경매서 ‘진짜’ 기차 구입

뉴질랜드에서 4살 난 아이가 인터넷 경매 사이트에 올라온 통근 기차를 주문해 아이의 부모가 낙찰을 취소하는 소동이 일어났다.

웰링턴의 대중교통국은 1940년 대부터 운행해 오던 통근 열차 한 대를 인터넷 경매 사이트에서 약 3천4백만원에 팔았다. 하지만 곧 한 여성에게서 낙찰을 취소해 달라는 메일을 받았다.

4살 난 아이의 엄마라는 이 여성은 자신의 아이가 장난으로 경매 사이트에 들어가 그 기차를 구입했다면서 낙찰을 취소해 달라고 했다.

결국 낙찰은 취소 되었지만 대중교통 당국은 4살 난 아이가 어떻게 복잡한 낙찰 과정을 통과할 수 있었는 지 의심된다고 말했다.

아직 이 기차에 대한 경매는 진행 중이지만 수많은 코멘트만 달릴 뿐 아무도 사려 하고 있지 않다고 한다.
