A Chihuahua is being hailed as a hero after authorities say it sniffed out two girls who were lost in a Georgia forest.

The girls, ages 5 and 8, disappeared Monday for a couple of hours when they were walking on trails near their neighborhood about 30 miles southwest of Atlanta. As police and firefighters began to search for the girls, neighbor Carvin Young grabbed his 3-year-old Chihuahua and joined the search.

Young tells CBS Atlanta (http://bit.ly/QwAlwY) the dog, Bell, picked up the girls' scent and began running until she reached them.

Rebecca Parga, the girls' mother, says her children play with Bell almost every day, and the dog is very familiar with them.

The girls, Carlie and Lacey, were scared when they were found but were not hurt. (AP)

'이웃집 치와와' 실종된 두 아동 구조

미국 아틀란타주에서 실종된 두 소녀를 이웃집의 개가 구조해 화제다.

칼리(5)와 레이시(8)는 지난 7월 30일(현지시각)  숲 속을 걷다가 2시간 동안 실종돼 경찰과 소방관들이 수색에 들어갔다. 이에 이웃집에 사는 칼빈 영은 그들을 돕고자 자신의 애완견인 치와와를 데리고 함께 나섰다.

벨이라는 이름의 이 개는 아이들의 냄새를 맡고는 그들을 찾을 때까지 달리기 시작했다.

두 소녀의 어머니 레베카 파르가는 아이들이 거의 매일 벨과 놀아서 서로에게 친숙하다고 말했다.

발견 당시 칼리와 레이시는 겁에 질려있었지만, 별다른 부상은 입지 않았다.
