TOEFL Test를 위한 기본 어휘 정리 Point 2
TOEFL Test에서 고득점을 받기 위해서 선행되어야 할 부분은 어휘입니다. TOEFL Test를 위한 어휘 정리 편에서는 TOEFL 시험 준비에 필요한 관용표현을 예문과 함께 공부해 보도록 하겠습니다.

1. No way!  절대 안 돼!
= Not in a million years
= Nothing doing!
= Not on your life 
= Over my dead body!  

2. He got fired (dismissed). 그는 해고 됐어요.
= They let him go  

3. Be on time = Be punctual. 시간 잘 지켜.      

4. You‘re dressed up, what’s the occasion?  쫙 빼 입었네, 어디 가니? 좋은 일 있니?

5. What‘s the catch? 속셈이 뭐야?           

6. I have a rash. 발진이 났어요.

7. What’s the rush? 뭐가 그렇게 급해?   

8. I got caught(stuck) in traffic. 교통체증에 걸렸어요.   

9. What are you up to? 무슨 일 있어?

10. Give it to me straight.    솔직히 얘기해 봐.                 

11. Keep it to yourself. 이건 비밀이야.
= Don‘t spill the beans.        

12. Let’s flip for it.   동전 던지기로 결정하자.

13. We‘re all set    준비 다 됐다.                            

14. Care for some drink?   음료수 좀 드시겠어요?                   



15. Can I count on it?  믿어도 될까요?
 
16. Report a theft to the police.   절도를 경찰에 신고하다.                         

17. Let me sleep on it. 잘 한번 생각해 볼게                      

18. make (both) ends meet 수지를 맞추다
= balance the budget
We can’t even make ends meet with only one child.
우리는 한명의 아이로는 수지를 맞출 수가 없다.

19. tie the knot 결혼하다
= get married
I‘m tying the knot next month. 다음 달에 결혼하려고 합니다.

20. take one’s breath away. 기막히게 하다

A wonderful rainbow we saw yesterday really took my breath away.
어제 보았던 무지개는 나를 기막히게 했다.
