South Korea has a new member inside the top 10 in the latest women’s world golf rankings.
Park In-bee jumped from 13th to ninth in this week’s rankings, announced by the LPGA Tour, thanks to her victory at the first Japan LPGA Tour event of the season on Sunday. Following that win, Park had said her goal was to be among the top 10 golfers in the world this year.
There was no change among the eight golfers ahead of Park. Yani Tseng of Taiwan remained No. 1 at 11.52 points, followed by two South Koreans: Shin Ji-yai (9.73) and Choi Na-yeon (9.32).
Kim In-kyung, at seventh, is the fourth South Korean inside the top 10. Another Korean, Ahn Sun-ju, slipped two spots to 11th after finishing in 44th place in Japan last weekend. Karrie Webb stayed at No. 10.
The rankings are determined based on field strength and a golfer’s performance over a rolling two-year period, with the highest value assigned to the most recent 13 weeks.
