Golf star Tiger Woods is back in Korea for the second time in six years. The former No. 1 golfer was to arrive in Incheon Airport late Wednesday, and is scheduled to give lessons to local golfers Thursday in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province.

Fresh from a solid performance at the Masters, Woods is now on a tour in Asia with sponsor Nike to promote the sport in the region.

Titled “Make it Matter,” the tour invites amateur golfers and fans to a rare chance to meet the golfing legend.

On Thursday, Woods will give personal lessons to six junior golfers at Jade Palace golf club in Chuncheon, some 80 kilometers east of Seoul. He will also host a clinic for selected amateur golfers.

Woods visited Korea in 2004 for a charity skins game on Jeju Island. But this will be his first visit here since his infamous sex scandal erupted in late 2009.

Since the scandal, Woods has gone 11 majors without winning, falling from No. 1 to No. 5 in the world rankings.

He also failed to win his fifth green jacket last week, but his tie for fourth place at the Masters restored his status with bookmakers.

Just days after the Masters in Augusta, Woods made a short stop in Shenzhen, China, on Tuesday and also visited Beijing before coming here. He was due to head to Tokyo later, but that schedule was canceled after the devastating earthquake and tsunami hit Japan last month.

Woods, 35, who has 14 major titles under his belt, remains on pace to break Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 major victories.
