Southeast Asia guidebook for teens

March 20, 2011 - 18:19 By
The ASEAN-Korea Centre has published “ASEAN and Korea, We Are Friends,” a guidebook for teenagers.

“It is a booklet designed for junior and high school students in Korea so that they can learn about our close neighbor ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations),” said secretary general Cho Young-jai.

The book provides introductory information on the block’s relations with Korea and its ten member countries of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The publication presents diverse aspects of the blocks member countries including their history and UNESCO world heritage sites found in Southeast Asia with comprehensive data, graphs and photos used to illustrate the region.

“It is hoped that this booklet makes a useful auxiliary teaching material for the young students in Korea, and also contributes to further enhancement of ASEAN awareness,” said Cho.

The guidebook is free of charge and will be distributed to junior and high schools, culture centers for youths and other related organizations and institutions. It will also be displayed at the center’s ASEAN Hall to be distributed to interested visitors.
