Incoming Australian Ambassador to Korea William Paterson introduced himself as a product of Victoria State in a food and wine tasting reception at a hotel in downtown Seoul on Wednesday.
The “Put Victoria on Your Table” wine and dinner event was co-organized by Seoul-based Wine Review magazine, which featured the cuisine of the Australian state and its signature wines in its May issue.
Representatives of 16 companies from Victoria were in Korea until Friday for the Seoul Food 2013 at Korea International Exhibition Center.
“Our food is clean, green and safe,” he said.
This year’s exhibition hosted 2,850 booths with 1,450 exhibitors and 50,000 professional visitors at KINTEX.
The ambassador said he was originally from Victoria and graduated from the prestigious University of Melbourne.
Guests sipped on Domaine Chandon Brut sparkling wine before a complex food and wine tasting that showcased eight different wines, including 2011 Scotchmans Hill Chardonnay and 2010 Caledonia Australis Chardonnay.
Paterson arrived in Korea just three weeks ago and has yet to present his Letter of Credence to President Park Geun-hye.
