LG G3’s battery life overwhelms rivals: researcher

June 10, 2014 - 20:49 By Korea Herald
LG Electronics’ latest smartphone, the G3, has the best battery performance in the market, a market researcher said Tuesday.

Online researcher Phone Arena said the battery life of LG’s 5.5-inch smartphone came to 8 hours and 50 minutes when the device was running only basic functions, including Web surfing.

The duration was longer than the 8 hours and 20 minutes of its biggest rival, Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S5.

Sony’s Xperia Z2 and HTC’s One M8 last 8 hours, 10 minutes, and 7 hours, 12 minutes, respectively. Apple Inc.’s iPhone 5 lasts 5 hours, 2 minutes.

While the G3 battery needs 120 minutes to fully charge, it took 122 minutes for the Galaxy S5, 207 minutes for the One M8 and 212 minutes for the Xperia Z2.

Industry watchers said the result was significant considering that the G3, which adopted the industry’s first high-resolution 2,560X1, 440 quad HD display, was expected to consume a lot of power. (Yonhap)
