Global chipmaker SK hynix Inc. said Tuesday it would expand inspections of its production facilities to ensure safety following allegations that some of its workers have died from leukemia, resonating a similar claim against the bigger chipmaker Samsung Electronics.
“We understand the necessity to bolster our employee’s safety and health through objective and precise research,” said Park Sung-wook, head of SK hynix, through the company intranet.
The company said it also plans to establish an advisory panel composed of scholars and medical specialists for an unbiased inspection and enforce stricter rules in handling toxic materials. (Yonhap)
