The market share of Samsung Electronics Co. for ultrahigh-definition TVs has surpassed the 60-percent mark for the first time in North America, the company said Thursday.
The world’s top maker of smartphones and memory chips took up 62 percent of the UHD TV market in North America as of the end of September, the South Korean tech giant said, based on the latest data compiled by global market tracker DisplaySearch.
In the second quarter, the share had stood at 56.7 percent.
Samsung far trumped its rivals, including the second-biggest Sony Corp., whose percentage sharply fell to 24.8 percent from 32.6 percent over the cited period. (Yonhap)
