LG showcases high-end camera for next flagship smartphone

April 7, 2015 - 15:28 By KH디지털2

South Korea's No. 2 tech giant LG Electronics Inc. said Tuesday its upcoming flagship smartphone, the G4, will have a high-powered camera that enables users to take clear and vivid photos in dark conditions.

The company, which earlier said the new smartphone will be showcased on April 29 in six major cities around the globe, revealed a teaser and invitation that showed "F1.8" written around a camera covered with a leather case.

The invitation was an upgrade from the previous version, which only showed the leather background.

"(The F1.8) implies that the G4 is a smartphone that is capable of taking the most vivid picture even in dark environments," the company said in a statement.

Industry watchers said the capacity of the F1.8 aperture is equal to that of a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera, adding that Samsung Electronics Co.'s Galaxy S6 and U.S. Apple Inc.'s iPhone 6 hold an aperture rate of 1.9 and 2.2.

A lower number indicates better performance in a dark environment.

LG also released one more video that promoted the "UX 4.0" platform that will run on the G4, which provides users with better camera and schedule-management features. (Yonhap)
