Samsung Electronics Co.'s British Twitter account released a comment on Apple Inc.'s latest gadget -- the Apple Pencil, which was released on Wednesday in the U.S. along with more of its latest devices.
Shortly after the announcement of the new pen by Apple, Samsung Mobile UK posted "Ummm…S-Pen #SoundsFamiliar," on its Twitter account.
U.S. tech giant Apple showcased the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, as well as the 12.9-inch iPad tablet PC in a San Francisco event on Wednesday. Along with these devices, the iPhone maker also said it will release a pen, sold separately, for the latest iPad Pro with a price tag of $99.
The pen seems in contrast to late Apple CEO Steve Job's statement before his death in 2011 that smart devices do not call for pens as people are born with pointing devices, referring to fingers.
Samsung has been rolling out phablets - or a cross between a smartphone and a tablet PC -- over the previous years, which come with a built-in pen. The latest Galaxy Note 5 was released last month.
Pre-orders of the latest iPhones, meanwhile, will start on Saturday for the United States, Britain, and a handful of other countries. The release schedule for South Korea has not yet been decided. (Yonhap)
