July 19, 2016 - 13:34 By Kim Young-won
[THE INVESTOR] Mobile messenger operator Kakao said July 19 that it has acquired 20 percent of start-up CNT Tech, which develops systems that receive orders from customers and transfer them to POS systems at the nearby stores.

The start-up has also developed its own POS system which is compatible with any network environment and can be utilized for any business in an easy manner, the mobile messenger firm said.

The 10-year old start-up which has built up its expertise in e-commerce and POS sector will complete the development of an order receiving system based on artificial intelligence and have it up and running at franchise stores partnered with CNT Tech this year.

Kakao said 40,000 franchise shops utilizing CNT Tech’s POS system will make it easy for the start-up to expand its new order receiving system down the road.

“There is much room for improvement for mobile order receiving systems in the franchise business sector,” said Jeon Hwa-seong, the chief of CNT Tech, adding, “Kakao’s recent investment will serve as a boost to the company’s efforts to develop the order processing systems.”
