Hyundai Motor Co., the largest carmaker in the country, on Monday agreed with Intel Korea and C&S Technology Ltd. to jointly develop infrastructure needed to deliver new channels of entertainment to drivers.
The three plan to put together In-Vehicle Infotainment system enabling drivers to access out-of-home TVs, social networking services, smartphone applications, games and internet radio.
Yang Woong-chul, Hyundai Motor’s vice chairman, signed a memorandum of understanding with Ton Steenman, vice president and general manager at Intel’s Embedded and Communications Group, and C&S Technology Korea CEO Kim Dong-jin in Seoul.

“The demand for smart cars is on the rise in Korea ― a powerful IT country,” said Yang. “Hyundai will develop in-vehicle infotainment systems that incorporate changes in digital lifestyles and maximize customer convenience in cooperation with Intel and C&S Technology.”
Intel will be responsible for developing software for next generation IVI systems based on the Intel Atom processor. C&S Technology will be tasked with coming up with semiconductor technology compatible with Hyundai vehicles.
