Shinsegae Group vice chairman Chung Yong-jin’s Twitter account appears to have been hacked by an unknown entity.
The hacker sent commercial tweets and spam messages to more than 119,000 of Chung’s followers and even changed the account ID to “@Acaiberry56” from “@yjchung68.”
The vice chairman was not aware of the incident until he checked his account the next day on Oct. 29, according to news reports.
About an hour after Chung’s explanation, an anonymous Twitter user joined the website again with Chung’s previous ID as it became available due to the hacking.
The new user named his account “The Genuine Revolution Bot (robot)” and has been tweeting insults about the vice chairman, the reports said.
The vice chairman expressed his anger over the hacker by posting comments to his hacked ID. However, he did not make reference to the new user with his previous ID.
The Shinsegae vice chairman stirred up controversy on Twitter last year by engaging in verbal spats with the Nowcom CEO and posting negative comments about domestic brand smartphones.

신세계 정용진 "이넘들 지긋" 트윗한 사연
정용진 신세계 부회장의 트위터 계정이 도용된 것으로 확인됐다.
정 부회장은 "트위터 아이디와 비밀번호를 도용당한 것 같다"며 "나도 모르는 새 계정 아이디가 바뀌어 있었다"고 말했다고 신세계 관계자가 30일 전했다 .
정 부회장의 계정 아이디는 기존 @yjchung68에서 @acaiberry56으로 바뀐 상태이 며, 이 계정에는 30일 오후 현재까지 "일단 비번 변경완료", "이넘들 지긋지긋하다 아사인지 뭔지" 등의 글이 계속 올라오고 있다.
그러나 정 부회장은 바뀐 아이디의 계정에 글을 올린 적이 없으며, 한 달 전께 스팸메일을 열어본 뒤에 계정을 해킹당한 것으로 추정된다고 신세계는 전했다.
트위터는 계정 비밀번호를 알고 있는 사용자가 접속하면 쉽게 사용자 이름과 아 이디를 바꿀 수 있다.
신세계 관계자는 "트위터는 정 부회장의 사적인 활동이라 지금으로선 향후 어떻 게 대응할지 알지 못한다"고 말했다.
정 부회장은 트위터로 누리꾼과 직접 소통하며 이마트 피자나 기업형수 퍼마켓(SSM)을 비롯한 이슈에 대해 의견을 밝히기도 하는 등 왕성한 활동을 벌여 주 요 기업인 가운데 대표적인 트위터 애호가로 손꼽힌다.
