KT Corp., South Korea’s leading mobile carrier, will host an event for young people on Sept. 24 as part of the company’s efforts to encourage South Korea’s frustrated youth, the company said Tuesday.
The KT Youth Energy UP Talk Concert, an event that features both a music concert and a talk show, is part of KT’s attempts to reach out to South Korea’s young people, who face a high unemployment rate and student loans, the company said.

KT also aims to change the inaccurate perception that the company is a public enterprise, as the group was actually privatized in 2002.
Since March 2016, KT has been hosting the KT Youth Energy Up Talk Concert every month, visiting different colleges and cities each time. The previous concert took place at the Korean Folk Village on Aug. 20 and 21.
The next Youth Energy Up Talk Concert will take place in Chonbuk National University in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province on Sept. 29. It will feature singer Eric Nam and four-member music band The Solutions. Tickets are available at 1,000 won ($0.89) per ticket and all profits from the sales will be donated to the “KT Sound Search” project, which supports children with hearing difficulties.
In addition to the concerts, the event includes a talk show during which KT’s new employees and college students can discuss about problems such as the job seeking process.
Starting this week until Sunday, KT’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/withKTgroup) is offering a chance to win VIP tickets for nine people who will get to take a closer look at Eric Nam and The Solutions.
