A group of European companies will hold one-on-one business meetings with potential Korean clients at the InterContinental Seoul COEX on Tuesday and Wednesday, organizers said.

Called the “EU Gateway Program in Korea,” the project promotes business relations between small and medium sized enterprises, or SMEs, from European Union member countries and Korean companies. The program is now in its fourth year.

This year’s agenda focuses on environment and energy-related technologies, and health care and medical technologies, the organizers said. Over 80 SMEs from EU member countries such as Germany, Ireland, and Italy, will participate in the fair.

Participating European companies include Britain’s Nautricity, which produces devices that generate electricity from tidal flows, and Denmark’s wind turbine developers Mita-Teknik.

Some European companies will also be exhibiting their products. They include wastewater and sludge treatment devices and energy saving software.

The participating European companies will get an opportunity to visit local work sites, attend seminars, and learn more about the domestic market during their stay in Korea, according to the organizers.

Korean companies and individuals who are interested in the European industry are expected to attend the fourm.

According to the organizers, the program will be held annually through 2014. A Japanese version of the program started in 1994.
