The foreign business community in Korea is expected to be offered a rare opportunity to directly converse with the incoming Park Geun-hye government.

On March 20, The Korea Herald and The Herald Business will jointly host a dialogue between global companies here and the five top government officials of the Park government in the fields of economy, welfare, labor, finance and defense.

The event will be held for over 500 businesspeople in the foreign corporate community here, at Millennium Hilton Hotel, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

President-elect Park Geun-hye of the ruling Saenuri Party will be inaugurated as the president of Korea on Feb. 25. She has repeatedly emphasized her desire to create a more level playing field for businesses in the country, but has not yet spoken up on issues related to foreign investment or multinational companies.

She also has signaled that her administration will be a harbinger for sweeping reforms in all areas of the economy, which will likely concern all who do business here, including international firms.

The March event is expected to be a chance for the sector to meet with the new government’s top policymakers responsible for shaping the regulations concerning the sector, including the tax code and incentives that chiefly concern the foreign business community, the organizers said.

A formal invitation will be mailed in mid-February to key multinational companies in Korea from Herald Media.
