Jan. 23, 2014 - 18:03 By KH디지털2
K-pop fans have their eyes on whether K-pop sensation EXO could win a top prize in the upcoming Seoul Music Awards to be held on Thursday night. If the boy band makes it to the top, it would be the fourth straight victory for the idol group.
EXO, a South Korean-Chinese boy band consisting of 12 members, has gained explosive popularity at home and in China since making an official debut in early 2012.

Their first full-length album has sold more than 1.4 million by far, according to the Gaon chart, sweeping local pop charts.

The idol band earned numerous honors including album of the year at the Mnet Asia Music Awards and song of the year at the Melon Music Awards for their song “Growl.”

While Psy was crowned the top singer in the event last year, long-running star Cho Yong-pil is seen as EXO’s strongest rival. Last April, he released “Hello,” his 19th full-length album in 10 years, which was well received by fans of all ages.

The 23rd Seoul Music Awards is set to run from 7 p.m. for three hours at Jamsil Stadium, southeastern Seoul.
