May 16, 2016 - 14:56 By KH디지털2
France will celebrate Korean culture in a special week-long event early next month to commemorate the two countries’ 130th diplomatic anniversary, the Culture Ministry here said Monday.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, “K-culture Week” will coincide with Korean President Park Geun-hye’s state visit to the European country from June 1-4. It is part of events that the two countries have been holding to mark the anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

Last week, some 30 high-level government officials from Seoul and Paris met in the French capital to hammer out ideas on enhancing cultural exchanges and boosting mutual understanding.

During the meeting, 55 projects that cover art, economics and food were newly approved as part of the exchange programs between the two nations.

Various Korean-themed festivals that will take place during the first week of June include the KCON, a global Korean entertainment event organized by CJ E&M, Korea’s leading entertainment and media company. There will also be “Spring of Korea,” an event to celebrate Korean literature; and “K-restaurant Week.”

The two countries have earmarked 2015 and 2016 as special years to celebrate the establishment of official relations by holding events on culture, history and food.
