“Killer heels” are famous for the discomfort they cause fashion-conscious women, but now a local court has ruled that they can be considered weapons.
Suwon District Court Judge Lee Jun-cheol on Wednesday issued a sentence of 18 months jail time, suspended for two years, to a 26-year-old woman who beat another woman with her heels, accepting the argument that their use exacerbated the offense.
The defendant hit a 19-year-old woman several times with her 12-centimeter heels after spotting the victim and her boyfriend together at a night club in April. The victim was hospitalized with an injury requiring four weeks’ treatment.
“High heels are dangerous. But the defendant used them repeatedly to attack a person, which is an act going beyond a threat,” the judge said.
