A 22-year-old British man has chopped off his own testicles, apparently seeking to become a woman.

According to the British tabloid the Sun, the 22-year-old man last Friday cut off his private parts and threw them into Queens Park, Chesterfield. The man, believed to have waited nearly 24 hours before going to the hospital, told the staff he experienced “a lot less” pain than he had anticipated, was treated with swabs and stitches and offered psychiatric treatment.

“He was treated, then discharged from A&E. We can say no more because of patient confidentiality -- but this is pretty unusual,” an official from Derbyshire’s Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Trust said.

The unnamed man is said to have suffered from “gender confusion issues.”
