On Monday, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency launched a nationwide crackdown on child pornography.

The cyber crime investigation team said that they will strengthen monitoring of activities relating to child pornography, including production, trade and distribution of obscene materials.

Downloading sexually explicit material from online storage services and peer to peer (P2P) sharing software are included in the activities subject to the clampdown.

“People can be punished for distributing or holding pornography featuring minors,” an official said.

“(We will) intensify the monitoring of the circulation of child pornography online and step up information-gathering activities."

미성년자 음란물 '내려받기'만 해도 단속

서울경찰청 집중단속 돌입

서울지방경찰청 사이버범죄수사대는 아동ㆍ청소년이 등장하는 음란물에 대한 집중 단속에 나선다고 30일 밝혔다.

서울경찰청은 이날부터 미성년자가 출연하는 음란물을 제작하거나 수입ㆍ수출하 는 행위, 포털사이트나 인터넷 카페 등에 올려 배포하는 행위 등에 대한 단속을 강화할 방침이다.

웹하드나 파일공유(P2P) 사이트에서 아동ㆍ청소년 음란물을 내려받아 소지하는 행위도 단속 대상에 포함된다.

경찰 관계자는 "미성년자가 출연하는 음란물의 경우 배포ㆍ소지하는 행위만으로 도 처벌된다"며 "인터넷상의 아동 음란물 유통실태에 대해 모니터링 강도를 높이고 첩보 수집 활동도 강화하겠다"고 말했다.
