Arizona police charged a man of child abuse after he burned his 5-year-old son’s hand to get rid of demons, according to reports.
Johnny Salazar, 25, explained that he did it because the son had touched his Bible and become “possessed by Satan.”
When arrested, he was speaking languages that could not be understood.
His mother, Connie Salazar, maintained that her son was suffering from hallucination after consuming bath salt.
According to her, Johnny repeatedly said he was seeing demons, and that other people were trying to poison him.
Often referred to as designer drug, the bath preparation is sold at many convenient stores with a label warning against human consumption. Still, some people abuse them to obtain effects similar to traditional drugs like ecstasy.
“I want people to know my son is a good son and this drug has destroyed a lot of children and people need to do something about it,” Connie told reports.
The police are investigating whether the man really had some illegal substance in his system at the time.
Meanwhile, the child’s condition does not call for serious medication
