Gwangju expats exhibit kids’ drawings

Aug. 2, 2011 - 18:33 By
Gwangju expats Andrea Hildebrand and Trevor Homeniuk are putting on an exhibition of postcards about the environment drawn by school students at Gwangju International Center from Aug. 6-20.

The two have been running the Environmental Awareness Education Program in Gwangju since May 2010, to teach elementary school students about environment- and conservation-related topics.

The postcards were made by fourth- and fifth-grade elementary school students in 2010 and 2011. They were taught words and phrases related to the environment and encouraged to express what they thought about nature and protecting the Earth.

The postcards will eventually be sent to Environment Minister Yu Young-suk.

The exhibition will open Saturday with a talk starting at 3 p.m. at the GIC Gallery.
