Lim Duck-ho, a professor of Hanyang University’s College of Economics and Finance, was selected as the university president on Monday.
The board of the school foundation said Monday that it picked Lim from two candidates who had passed the first round of screening.
He will start his four-year term on March 18.

The new president graduated from the same university’s economics department in 1982, earned his economics Ph.D. from Rice University in Houston, Texas, in 1986 and has served as a professor of Hanyang University since 1988.
He held numerous off-campus positions including president of the Korean Association for Housing Policy Studies and chairman of a Seoul City committee to deliberate the prices of lots for sale. He currently serves as dean of the Graduate School of Industrial Engineering, Management and Design of Hanyang University and sits on the Bank of Korea advisory board of professors.
