Former Justice Minister Kang Kum-sil has been appointed as a chair-professor of the University for Peace.
According to the One, a professional law corporation where she works as an attorney, an academic committee of the UPEACE Asia Pacific Center in Seoul proposed the post in recognition of her efforts to protect the rights and interests of women and the underprivileged.

Kang says that Korean society would take a global approach to the understanding of people and the matter of coexistence as the center has taken hold in the nation.
She served as Korea’s first female minister of justice from February 2003 to July 2004. She is a graduate of Seoul National University with a degree in law.
The University for Peace is a U.N.-mandated university established in 1980, and has its Asia-Pacific Center in Korea.
