A man has been living with a knife lodged in his forehead for a month, according to the Jinju police, and it seems that he will be stuck that way for some time.

A man surnamed Yeo stabbed the 49-year-old victim in the face last month after the two got into an argument in an office in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province. Yeo attacked the victim for telling a worksite overseer that Yeo had left the site during work hours.

The victim was transported to four different hospitals, including Seoul ASAN Medical Center and Samsung Medical Center, after the assault. However, he was unable to undergo surgery to remove the blade, which had broken off from the 20-cm-long knife.

The victim’s family decided against the operation after being told that it could paralyze or kill him. The position of the 8-cm blade, which was close to the artery, made it unlikely that the surgery would be successful.

Currently, the victim is able to carry on with everyday tasks, such as eating and talking, but shows symptoms of facial paralysis, according to the police. He is relying on antibiotics after being recently released from Gyeongsang National University Hospital.

The suspect, Yeo, is said to have stalked the victim after being told not to come into work the day before. He has been apprehended on charges of attempted murder.
