DAEGU (Yonhap News) -- The Samsung Lions edged the SK Wyverns 2-1 in the second game of the Korean Series, taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven championship round for the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO).

At Samsung's home Daegu Stadium, rookie Bae Young-seob hit a two-run single to break a scoreless deadlock in the sixth, and the Lions' pitching was dominant for the second straight game.

With two outs and bases loaded in the sixth, Bae rolled a single up the middle off left-hander Park Hee-soo to drive in the only runs the Lions needed. Bae, who broke his left hand after getting hit by a pitch in a late September game, recovered in time to make the Korean Series roster at the last minute.

The Wyverns scored their first run of the Korean Series in the top eighth, as Park Jung-kwon lined a single to center to cut the deficit in half. Then with two outs and runners on first and second, Choi Dong-soo hit a single up the middle, but Samsung center fielder Lee Young-wook, who entered the game in the eighth as a defensive replacement, threw out Choi Jung at home plate to end the inning and the SK threat.

Right-hander Kwon Oh-joon earned the win in relief. Closer Oh Seung-hwan got a two-inning save, giving up one hit and striking out four. Park Hee-soo was tagged with the loss for SK.

The series will move to Munhak Stadium, SK's home turf in Incheon, just west of Seoul, for the third and fourth games on Friday and Saturday. Justin Germano will start for the Lions and the Wyverns will counter with Song Eun-beom on the mound.

Samsung is seeking its first championship since 2006.

On Tuesday, the Lions blanked the Wyverns 2-0, holding their opponents to only five hits, none of them for extra bases, and striking out 12. It was a similar Wednesday.

Samsung's starter Jang Won-sam gave up only three hits and struck out 10 over 5 1/3 innings, before leaving the game with teams tied at zero. Relievers Kwon, Ahn Ji-man, Jong Hyun-wook and Oh struck out seven more SK batters and held them to four hits the rest of the way.

SK's starter Yoon Hee-sang left after the first inning with shoulder pains. Lee Seung-ho relieved him to start the second inning.

These two clubs also met in the Korean Series last year, and the Wyverns swept the Lions in four games then to claim their third title in four seasons.
