New York City's "Naked Cowboy" has threatened a lawsuit against the up-and-coming "Naked Indian" over turf in Times Square.

The Cowboy, Robert Burck, who has been playing guitar and singing in his underwear and cowboy hat in Times Square for years, now has a rival in the Indian, Adam Davis, the New York Daily News reported Saturday.

Burck, who said there are no ill feelings between him and Davis, has nonetheless threatened to sue Davis if he refuses to join Burck's company, Naked Cowboy Enterprises, a franchise that features Naked Cowgirls and other entertainers.

"I've been here ... 365 days, every day for 13 years and change," Burck said. "He's only been here 16 days and missed two already."

"No one was doing an Indian," said Davis who dons underwear and a headdress. "[The Cowboy and I] have a word-of-mouth contract. This country was built on handshakes and word-of-mouth agreements. I don't lose, I always win."

Meanwhile, visitors to Times Square seem to favor the Naked Cowboy.

"I'm Team Cowboy," said Naomi Carrier, 31, of Union, N.J. "He's cute, he's friendly, he's fun and he has a personality. He was flirty."

"They're both nice," said 16-year-old Sarah Levenphal. "The Cowboy has a guitar and he sounds more melodic. The Indian doesn't sing." (UPI)

버크는 ‘인디언’ 아담 데이비스에게 안 좋은 감정은 없지만 자신이 ‘나체 카우걸스’와 그 외 엔터테이너들과 함께 경영하고 있는 회사와 계약하지 않을 경우 고소하겠다고 말했다.

“나는 지난 13년간 매일 365일 동안 이 자리에 있었다. 데이비스는 일을 시작한지 고작 16일 이 지났지만, 벌써 이틀 동안 모습을 보이지 않았다”고 말했다.

인디언 머리장식과 속옷만 입은 채 타임 스퀘어에서 관광객들을 맞는 데이비스는 “여기선 아무도 인디언 차림을 하지 않는다”며 “카우보이와 나는 한마디도 나누지 않은 관계다. 미국은 대화와 악수를 통한 협정으로 지어진 나라다. 난 지지 않을 것이다. 난 항상 이긴다”고 말했다.

한편 타임스퀘어를 방문하는 관광객들은 ‘나체 카우보이’를 더 선호하는 것으로 나타났다.

나오미 캐리어(31)는 “그는 귀엽고 친절하며 재미있는 농담을 잘한다”며 버크를 두둔했다.

또 다른 방문객 세라 리벤팔(16)은 “둘 다 멋지지만 카우보이는 기타도 연주하며 음악을 선보이는 반면 인디언은 노래를 하지 않는다”고 말했다.
