Seinfeld gets cars, comics together for Web series

July 10, 2012 - 19:28 By Korea Herald
WASHINGTON (AFP) ― The American television star and writer Jerry Seinfeld is putting his passion for comedy and cars together and will throw in a caffeine jolt for an original web series to premiere July 19.

Little is known about “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” beyond a couple of promo videos with Seinfeld behind the wheel of various well-polished vintage vehicles, accompanied by various fellow comics, all of them male.

But a 58-second video posted on the show’s Facebook page on the weekend saw Seinfeld with a Porsche, Triumph, Dodge Charger and Volkswagen Beetle, with Alec Baldwin, Larry David, Ricky Gervais and Michael Richards riding shotgun.

“The series itself looks like a sort of automotive talk show,” guessed Motor Trend magazine on its website in the absence of more details about the project (www.comediansincarsgettingcoffee.com) produced by Sony Pictures unit Crackle.

Off-screen, Seinfeld owns one of the biggest Porsche collections in the world, including a Can-Am Spyder racing car for which he paid $4.4 million at an auction in Florida, Motor Trend said.
