Korean professional baseball player Go Won-jun has been taken into custody for drunk driving, Busan police said Monday.

The 23-year-old pitcher, who plays for the Lotte Giants in the Korea Baseball Organization, allegedly crashed his vehicle into another car at 4:50 a.m. on Sunday. No one was hurt in the accident.

Go’s blood alcohol content level was 0.086 percent, enough to have his driver’s license suspended, according to police.

Police requested a blood test from Go, and said they will conduct an investigation when they have the results from the National Forensic Service.

롯데 고원준, 부산서 음주 교통사고 입건

프로야구 롯데 자이언츠 투수인 고원준(23)씨가 음주운전으로 접촉사고를 냈다.

부산 부산진경찰서는 음주운전을 하다가 교통사고를 낸 혐의(도로교통법 위반)로 고씨를 불구속 입건했다고 3일 밝혔다.

고씨는 지난 2일 오전 4시50분께 부산 부산진구 양정2동 부산고용센터 앞 길가에 세워둔 자신의 아우디 승용차를 타고 시동을 걸고 출발하려던 중 바로 옆을 지나 던 SM5 승용차(운전자 최모•50•여)를 들이받았다.

이 사고로 고씨의 아우디 차량과 SM5 승용차 앞부분이 찌그러졌지만 다행히 인명피해는 없었다.

사고 당시 고씨의 혈중 알코올 농도는 0.086%로 면허정지에 해당하는 수치였다.

고씨가 음주 단속결과에 이의를 제기하자 경찰은 채혈을 해  국립과학수사연구소에 넘겨 감정결과를 기다리고 있다.

경찰은 고씨가 술을 마시고 갓길에서 차를 대놓고 쉬다가 다시 운전을 하려는 과정에서 옆에서 오는 차량을 보지 못해 사고를 낸 것으로 보고 있다.

경찰은 국과수의 채혈 결과가 나오는 대로 고씨를 불러 음주운전을 한 거리 등 자세한 경위를 조사한 뒤 면허정지처분을 할 예정이다.
